U.S. Medal Count: Day 1
After one day of competition in Vancouver, the United States sits in first place in the medal count with 4 medals: 1 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze. Apolo Ohno and J.R. Selski took the silver and bronze, respectively, in the men's 1500 meter short-track speed skating. This silver medal ties Ohno with Bonnie Blair for the most number of medals for a U.S. Winter Olympian. On the women's side, Hannah Kearney earned the first U.S. gold medal in the women's moguls. Shannon Barkhe took the bronze in the moguls.
