UCLA called a timeout to indicate that they were playing until the final horn. They weren't satisfied to let the clock run out. Good for them.
Pete Carroll decided that he wanted to keep playing football too, and took a chance on the long ball to show his team will compete until the final bell. Good for him.
All sentiments aside, when two teams step onto the gridiron it's a battle to the finish. If one team can win by 100, so be it. Carroll and USC tried to be classy, and UCLA calls timeout. A simple case of "screw you" and "screw you too".
I hate both teams, but gotta say "Good for USC" on this one.
Those are good points, I just feel that is was more about sticking it to the other coach and the celebration after the touchdown and taunting seemed as it to be more about rubbing it in then playing til the horn.
