Childish Games or a True Rivalry?

Don't know if any of you Sconnies saw what happened between UCLA and USC, but this is a display of coaches thinking they are bigger than the team. Sportsmanship seems to be not the main focus with many of these coaches but more about their egos. Pete Carroll and Lane Kiffin are just a few of loud mouth coaches that seem to sometimes but themselves over their teams. I am worried that this may be the kind of coaches AD's think are the right guys for recruiting. I don't think they are the right leaders for these college kids.

BUT THAT'S JUST MY TWO CENTS FROM THE NOSE BLEEDS!!

  1. UCLA called a timeout to indicate that they were playing until the final horn. They weren't satisfied to let the clock run out. Good for them.

Pete Carroll decided that he wanted to keep playing football too, and took a chance on the long ball to show his team will compete until the final bell. Good for him.

All sentiments aside, when two teams step onto the gridiron it's a battle to the finish. If one team can win by 100, so be it. Carroll and USC tried to be classy, and UCLA calls timeout. A simple case of "screw you" and "screw you too".

I hate both teams, but gotta say "Good for USC" on this one.

  2. Those are good points, I just feel that is was more about sticking it to the other coach and the celebration after the touchdown and taunting seemed as it to be more about rubbing it in then playing til the horn.
